Percentages

According to Mitt Romney, there are 47% of the American people "who are dependent on government, who believe that, that they are victims, who believe that government has the responsibility to care for them. Who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing."

This would probably be the perfect time for me to point out that at least 99% of Americans think that Mitt Romney is a pompous douchebag . . . but I'm not going to do that.  Instead, I am simply going to say that I am 100% certain that anyone who is too stupid to realize that someone in the room probably has an iPhone is too stupid to be president.

It's the Republican way to assume that anyone who doesn't have a job, or a home, or health care, is just a lazy loser. That's why I have drifted left of center, not because I agree with everything the Democrats say, but because they show compassion in their platform. The Republicans still want to live by the archaic writings of men who thought the Indians were savages, and that owning another human being was okay.
Sorry Mitt, we can't all be millionaires.

where to start, where to start ...

"everything we have, we earned the old fashioned way" Does that include reviewing sweat shops in rural china to off shore American jobs?

"I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth" .... well gosh, that one just speaks for itself, now doesn't it

"These people think they are entitled.." just for fun I looked up the word. Here is what it said:

Adj. entitled - qualified for by right according to law; "we are all entitled to equal protection under the law" eligible - qualified for or allowed or worthy of being chosen; "eligible to run for office"; "eligible for retirement benefits"; "an eligible bachelor"

So let me get this straight ... Mitt doesn't want to represent 47% of the population he believes to be entitled, he is really only worried about the 5-10% in the middle that he believes he might be able to persuade that his wing-nut ideas can improve the economy. And I'm assuming that includes putting those 'lazy entitled people' to work like the workers he saw in China .... did I get that about right?

you know, i was open-minded about the republican party early on. i've always leaned more democratic, but i wanted to get some cooperation w/ congress, so i was more than willing to vote whichever way would get the job done. i am just stunned that this is the only schmuck they could come up with to put on the ballot...

As a member of the 53% working and paying my taxes, I'm a little tired of carrying the 47%. Just sayin' :)

I'd like to see how long Mitt would last if he actually had to struggle for fucking ANYthing. I say let's "set him up" with a house in Detroit next to two abandoned hulks and across the street from the crack house. His job choices can be Burger King or KFC, and he can take three buses each way to get to and from work. Then we'll check on him in a year and see how he's doing.

I think FDR said the same thing.
He said people should never be totally dependent on government.
Aid is to be given when needed for a short period of time.
if you have 90% of the population asking for hand outs and 10% giving them, things don't work out.
When you have a social system that always dishes out you get an awful lot of people coming in for the goodies but no one putting back so pensions are lost, health care is lost social welfare is lost.
Most of our immigrants come here to take money and send it to their own countries and they use medicare without paying for it as they exchange the card and pretend to be someone who they are not.
etc... Just sayin.lol
Romney is not a good speech maker that's for sure. You need to understand where the man is coming from.Too bad neither party has good people to lead them.

If Obama wins, he has another 4 years to do nothing. He is making promises he will not be able to deliver to win the election. The US is in so much debt,it can't afford to spend more. It has to cut spending instead.Mean while, the enemy sees weakness and will continue to bank rupt the US.
After 4 years Obama cannot be reelected and the people will be in more dire straights. So they will change government again to the republicans. This is 4 years wasted, when another man, with experience in business (cause thats all he knows) has 8 years ahead of him to do something if he is elected. All Romney said was people who are used to getting hand outs, will not vote for him. We have people here, on welfare, who when given work, refuse it. They say why should we work when we get more staying home. They produce more babies and make more and more demands. You can't run a country like this.Everything and every one suffers.Look at Russia.
With perestroika everything is much better now.

Definitely 100% of the population has the right to education and health care, and in that sense we have to move forward.

I do have to say I have been a middle class American... working since I was 15 now I am 56. I have been paying taxes and Social Security with my payroll taxes. I feel I deserve to be one of those 47 % that do not pay taxes WHEN I retire. I do think they are some taking advantage of the system need to be weeded out. I HATE Romney, women have the right to do anything they want with THEIR bodies and my dog rides inside the car!

If you want to see how these taxes break down ... do the homework http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/UploadedPDF/1001547-Why-No-Income-Tax.pdf

Most are retired (aka already put their pay into the system and now deserve social security and medicare) or the working poor. Yes they are working, but just barely getting by.

What Romney is referring to for 'not paying taxes' are federal taxes. We are all still paying into social security and medicare.

Before we bring in a discussion of immigrants and immigration ... let's just think about who gets counted in these numbers. We are talking about people who are counted by the government for tax purposes. Which means you've got a number whether that be a social security number, or legal immigration papers. Otherwise we're talking about getting paid 'off the books' and you do not qualify for government assistance.

As for immigration ... who here can raise their hand and say they are native American? anyone? If not, then you are a decedent of someone who immigrated to this country. That is what this country was founded on.

If you are here in America and you are legal, then you have just as much right as anyone else to what this country has to offer.

The problem with his comment is that he lives in a big house out of touch with real life. Perhaps he should take the bus like Tim Berners does on a daily basis, to keep in touch with reality.-I am quoting my son on this one.
